I've always loved photoblogs. I feel like I'm more of a visual person than a writer. Sometimes though my brain loves to tell stories and thanks to Inquirer, one has been published already. So this blog will be a mix of both: things I see through my lens or letters I type down on my laptop. (: Best viewed using Google Chrome.
Educational Assessment
Wednesday, September 15, 2010, 4:35 PM

When boredom gets to me, I browse the net a lot. But a while ago, I found something helpful that I’d like to share with everyone especially those planning to work when they get to the US. I found a website offering educational diploma assessment. What it means is that they can provide a comparison of your Philippine diploma or grades against the US educational system. At the college I’ve attended, we are actually assessed using numerical grades. Given a 5 means you have been excellent in that subject, 1 being poor in performance and F for simply failing. So once it has been assessed by the evaluators, they’ll be able to give a certificate saying what is the equivalent course you have in the US and your grades can also be given an equivalent credit or their A - F grading system. Once you’re ready to find work, at least your future employer would recognize your Bachelor’s Degree from the Philippines.

You may click here to read further details. There’s an online application form and here’s one which is ready to be printed out.

They ask you for original and photocopies of your college diploma, transcript of records and your final grades during your last year in high school. Yes, the original is included but they can mail it back to you after the assessment. This service is not cheap though, will cost you $85 for basic evaluation and $135 for their course-by-course one. But for me, I think it will be worth it. :)
